Some third party authentication companies will glance at your autographed memorbillia and instantly tell you it's not genuine, but not before charging you a huge fee to do so.
Make Sure You Do Not Fall Victim to Third Party Authentication Companies.
For years you have read hundreds of stories of how the three top profile companies who "claim" to authenticate autograhs have misirably failed. Every once in a while, they do one of thier authentications that puts a smile on your face. This new example certainly does that and some uneducated collector paid for this service.
The item is a signed color photograph of Cary Yastrzemski. This was sold by a well known west coast in person collector.. This in-person collector is well respected and known throughout the hobby for quite a few decades.
The uneducated collector/purchaser foolishly sent this photo to PDA/DNA to be authenticated. Joke number "1", It came back as non authentic.
Now for some smile time. Joke #2, the COA spelt Carl Yastrzemski's name wrong on the certificate. This collector got two jokes for the price of one authentication. Such a deal!
